 Chapter 18

1 An epistle to Rebecca Platt, the mother of the Platt family, written by my, Elder Platt's, own hand:

2 My beloved mother, mom platt, I rejoice exceedingly that your travels have gone without hickup, and that the Lord has delivered you out of the hands of "winter vacation" so that you may continue in your marvelous calling of raising my siblings. 

3 Now behold, I, Elder Platt being in the 18th week of service will write a few things about the history of my missionary work, so that a record may be kept.

4 And as my time is short, and the time you would take to read this is valuable, wherefore, it needs be that I dont write too much. For what more could I add, than what I said when we called over facebook messenger; yea and this sufficeth me.

5 And now, my mother, it grevieth me much to say, but I have been weak of the will, or in other words, my strength in the face of gluttony had lapsed.

6 For behold, through lenthy negotiations with the oreo dealer, I canst now aquire a box of oreos for 5000៛ which, being interpreted means 1.25$; quite a desirable exchange, if my opinion has any worth.

7 And thus there began to be many empty wrappers, that sprung into existence around the house, there being three oreos in a pack, and around 15 packs in a box.

8 And I did purchase 4 boxes last Monday.

9 Lo and behold, the empty wrappers did multiply exceedingly fast all throuout the land.

10 And thus, my mouth began to become exceedingly rich in sugar, every meal of mine came to a completness with the consumation of them.

11 And it came to pass that all of the oreos had vanished by Thursday morning.

12 My heart did yearn for more, inasmuch that I did not know what to do when not eating them. But I am pleased to now announce that I have not eaten a single delectable drum since then, as I realized it was becoming a tad bit excessive. 

13 And it came to pass that our power was cut friday morning, and fearing greatly for the welfare of our frozen provisions, we did go to the power company saturday afternoon. (friday night was sad because no AC, But behold these things matter not)

14  Great is the power of the adversary, for we beheld that it happened to be khmer independence day.

15 (Their workers were not there so we could not pay the bill or get our power back)

16 But by some miracle an important lady pulled up, and allowed us to sign a contract that was basically obligating us to simply pay on monday, and we would recieve power back immediatly. 

17 and Thus I did sign, with permission from the Assitants to the President, but nevertheless it is kind of sketchy because I cannot understand contractual khmer launguage.

18 In other news, we did hold a zone training, in which I got to see a dope suit that Elder Percell had made for himself. I prophesy that one day I will recieve one for myself that is very similar.

19 And It came to pass that in the 3rd day of my oreo extravaganza, I did finish the book of mormon, having started reading it when I first arrived in this country almost two months ago.

20 I do testify that it is indeed of true and good origin, and that the principles and precepts wherein are of a priceless nature. 

21 Truely this runthrough of the book has been done with the most soberness, understanding, and spirit filled moments than with any other attempt I've made at reading it.

22 I would that I could share some from the prophet Moroni, for my soul delighteth in his words exceedingly.

23 "Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.  And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is. And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever."(compare to moroni chapter 10)

24 Now my dear mother, I know you know somewhat concerning these things already, and so I will write little more on this topic.

25 As I read through the completion of this book, I did make a list of the chapters that particularly stood out to me in terms of importance and value. Here is that list :
